8. Press the softkey labeled ‘NO’. Note that the splash screen will need to be loaded after all
software and configuration loading is completed.
9. When complete, the display starts in configuration mode.
10. Remove the software loader card from the MFD and insert it into the top card slot of the PFD.
Repeat Steps 3 through 8 for the PFD.
3.5.5 G1000 System Software Upload
The System Upload page allows a technician to load LRU software and system configuration files in an
automated sequence. This Section steps through a complete G1000 system software load procedure for
the same version software currently installed in the aircraft. To upgrade G1000 system software to a
newer version, refer to the Field Update Instructions document for the version you wish to install. For
individual LRU software loading, see the LRU specific software loading instructions in Section 7.
CAUTION
DO NOT ALLOW POWER TO BE REMOVED FROM THE G1000 SYSTEM
WHEN LOADING SOFTWARE. Connect a ground power unit to the aircraft for
software loading. Do not rely on only the aircraft batteries during the software loading
process. Power loss during a software upgrade may cause a LRU to become corrupted
and unresponsive requiring replacement. Replacing corrupted units are not covered
under warranty. Remove power only when told to do so in the procedure.
IMPORTANT!
When restarting the G1000 system after previously having been in configuration mode, a
GIA63W may occasionally remain in configuration mode. Display symptoms include a
red AFCS annunciation and cycling of the transponder field between valid and invalid
states. To clear this condition, cycle power only to the PFD and MFD by opening the
PFD and MFD circuit breakers for ~30 seconds, then resetting them.
