SECTION 9 – PROCEDURES
Load and/or Activate an Approach Procedure
1)
Press the
PROC
Key.
2)
Turn the large
FMS
Knob to highlight ‘SELECT
APPROACH’.
3)
Press the
ENT
Key.
4)
If a flight plan is active, the destination airport
will be displayed as the default. A list of available
approaches is also displayed. If no flight plan is
active, use the
FMS
Knobs to enter the identifier of
the desired airport. Press the
ENT
Key.
5)
Turn the large
FMS
Knob to highlight the Approach
field. Turn the small
FMS
Knob to display a list of
available approaches.

Turn either
FMS
Knob to highlight the desired
approach. Press the
ENT
Key.
7)
The cursor will move to the TRANSITIONS field.
Turn the large
FMS
Knob to highlight the desired
transition waypoint and press the
ENT
Key. (The
“Vectors” option assumes vectors will be received
to the final course segment of the approach and
will provide navigation guidance relative to the final
approach course.)

Turn the large
FMS
Knob to highlight Activate?’
and press the
ENT
Key to activate the approach.
Activating the approach will initiate a direct-to
for IAF and the G1000 will immediately begin
navigating to the IAF. Selecting ‘Load?’ will add the
procedure to the flight plan without immediately
using it for navigation guidance.
Activate An Approach in the Active Flight Plan
1)
With the Navigation Map Page displayed, press the
PROC
Key.
2)
Turn the large
FMS
Knob to highlight ACTIVATE
APPROACH’.
3)
Press the
ENT
Key. The approach procedure is now
active and a direct-to is initiated to the IAF.
